the history of music videos

the begining of music videos came in the 1940's with the panorama soundie jukebox which played various film clips over music. This was later followed by Rock n Roll films in the 1950's presenting live band performances.

as the concept progressed music video T.V. was championed by the monkeys, a band from an American sitcom. From this came programs such as Top of the Pops,and other music programs alike

the 60's came after that. The music videos ten was lead by iconic bands such as The Beatles and music T.V defined forms and conventions of music videos to come, e.g. choreographed, studio recorded, various camera work all edited in time with the track.

Finally, on November 10 1975, a music video that took just four hours and £4,500 to create the first music video to fit this criteria was produced for the infamous song Bohemian Rhapsody by the Artist Queen. From here on things would never be the same again
